Future Development homes are very energy efficient - at least 30% more energy efficient than homes built to the 1993 Model Energy Code or 15% more efficient than state energy codes.
What makes a Future Developments Home Improvement home so energy efficient?
Energy Heal Truss System: This style of truss provides room for more insulation at the outside wall. More insulation means reduced ice build up on roofs and less heat loss.
Six Inch Wall Structures: 2 x 6 walls and upgraded wall insulation provides increased R-value. (R-22 to R-25) wihich is over and above what is required by Michigan Codes.
Blown Stabilized Cellulose Insulation: Increases R-value, reduces air infiltration, and holds in heat and air conditioning.Stabalization keeps well ventilated attics from "wind washing".
Caulking at Joints: The joint between the double top plate, where the bottom plate meets the floor, and double studs around window and doors, are all caulked to restrict air infiltration.
Rim Joist Insulation: Foam sprayed at the rim joist seals the rim to reduce air and moisture from penetrating the crawl space or basement area.
Window Seals: Installed around the perimeter of the window, this seals out moisture and air so that drafts and blowing rain cannot make their way indoors.
Low-E Argon Gas Filled Windows: Windows with advanced coatings and construction keep heat in during the winter and out during summer. Argon gas between panes slowes the transfer of heat through your windows adding extra insulating power.
